Studying Spanish in Medellin offers travelers the opportunity to live with a typical Paisa family with the Homestay Program.
This is a great addition to total immersion, not only with regards to Learning Spanish, but it has the added benefit of learning more about Colombian culture while living with a Host Family.
The Host Family will help you practice your Spanish outside of your Spanish Classes. And more importantly, you will be exposed to the local culture as well as what daily life is like for a typical Paisa family. This is also a great way to make new life-long friends from another country to keep in touch with upon your return home.
Each family has gone through a selection process and is selected to ensure that they understand the guest's needs. There are several families who have particapated in the program for years and know how to treat newly arrived foreign visitors to Medellin, Colombia.
The Homestay Program will give you the opportunity to live with selected Paisa families who do not speak any English. Thus, it is the perfect environment in which to put into practice what you acquire in the classroom.
The Homestay Program starts when the Host Family meets you at the airport upon your arrival. They will take you to your temporary home in Medellin. They will show you your room and help make sure you are settled in properly for your stay in this wonderful and magical South American city known as Medellin.
They will provide you with important information which you may need during your stay in Medellin. You will recieve a map to help you get around Medellin, along with information on what you need to know about the city.
In addition, the Host Family provides guests with a morning breakfast and home cooked Colombian meal for dinner.
The cost of the Homestay Program includes airport pickup/dropoff, a private room, keys to the house, two typical Colombia meals per day, as well as laundry service.
